Story

Born in Birmingham

DECEMBER 30TH, 1960

Oscar O’Connor (AKA Jubi) was born to Elizabeth & Fitzroy

O’Connor on the 30th of December 1960 living at Wellington Road,

Birmingham with his siblings. Elizabeth and Fitzroy decided to move back to Jamaica with the children when Jubi was 5 years old, where he attended Crofts Hill Basic School and continued his education at Crofts Hill All Age School in Jamaica until the age of 15.

Jubi acquired many skills growing up in Jamaica. Jubi would care for

his siblings, so at a young age he learned how to plait his sisters’ hair

and look after them when his mother was unwell. Jubi also cared for

the animals’ on his father's farm, guinea pigs, rabbits, pigs, and

chickens. He also had his own pigeons and doves as pets.

When Jubi returned to the UK, he went to live with his Aunt and

Uncle in Hill Top, West Midlands as a teenager. Where he attended

church and sang in the Imperials male group at the New Testament

Church of God in Willenhall.

Jubi’s uncle taught him how to plaster, paint, mix cement and lay

bricks and also taught him other parts of his trade. This was the

beginning of becoming the most well-rounded tradesman you can

find in the construction sector.

Jubi was a reliable, respectable, loving and caring individual that

warmed the hearts of many he met, children and animals especially.

He had a passion for lions, natural hair and the Bible. Always active,

fit and healthy in servitude to The Most High. Always praising Jah

with love and conviction in his heart. Jubi was a very passionate man,

a loving son, brother, uncle, husband, father to six children and

grandfather to 7 grandchildren.
